Our historical roots go back to the Autumn of 2005. In this year, from my brother’s elderberry fields, after a year’s hard work, we couldn’t gather enough fruit. Thanks to the weather and people helping themselves we literally almost lost everything.

After the feelings of disappointment we took action and looked for a solution. We cleared what was left of the crop by hand, everybody who could helped, even the children who were running around with purple hands for days! My sister-in-law made jam and juice, my mother looked concerned and my father, who is a chemical engineer, took some of the fruit to a nearby distillery to distill our first elderberry palinka. We tasted the palinka and invited our friends and family to do the same. We had such a good response we decided that with part of next year’s crop we would make our own palinka. We began to seriously entertain the idea that we would make palinka under our own name. In Etyeken (a wine producing area), at the end of a row of wine cellars, we bought a beautiful piece of land. The following year we started building and learning about the business and when the foundations were laid, in the spring of 2010 Etyeki Czimeres Palinka was launched under the family’s coat of arms.
